Property Tax & Rent Rebate

Overview

Some Pennsylvanians may qualify for a rebate payment of up to $1000. The amount of the rebate payments vary according to an individual's income and the amount of rent or property taxes they paid. 
  
Applications for rebates must be filed with the Department of Revenue each year for the previous calendar year. The application forms and instructions may be obtained from the Department of Revenue website.

Requirements

You may qualify if you meet the following criteria:

You are a resident of Pennsylvania, and

Your annual income does not exceed $45,000 (count only 50% of your income from social security and/or railroad retirement benefits), and

You are age 65 or older, or

You are a widow or widower age 50 or older, or

You are age 18 to 64 and are permanently disabled according to the Social Security disability guidelines; and

You paid rent or property taxes (even individuals who live in facilities or subsidized housing can qualify for rebates).
