The court may order supervised probation or parole as a condition of a sentence. A probation/parole officer will be assigned to monitor that the defendant is abiding by the court’s rules and conditions of supervision. The Adult Probation and Parole Department has several special programs targeted toward specific groups of individuals depending upon the type of offense and the individual's needs.
The probation/parole officer may meet with the individual in his or her home, place of employment, in the community, or in the adult probation office. Individuals under supervision may be subject to random breath or urine tests or be required to obtain a drug/alcohol evaluation and comply with all recommended treatment. Officers may also check on employment or treatment status and payment of costs, fines, and restitution to ensure compliance with the court's sentencing order.
