What is SAP?

In Pennsylvania, every middle school and high school and some elementary schools have a Student Assistance Program (SAP).  The purpose of this program is to be a resource for parents, school staff, and other people who care, when students are showing warning signs of problems which may affect their success in school.

At the heart of the SAP program is a professionally trained team, made up of school staff and liaisons from community agencies who will help you find services and assistance within the school and, if needed, in the community.  The team does not diagnose or treat the problem; however, professional substance abuse and mental health assessment services are available through the community agency liaisons who work with the team.
