The Cumberland County Juvenile Probation Department continues to track recidivism on an annual basis. The above chart shows juveniles involved with the juvenile probation office and if they were arrested, convicted, or placed after discharge from probation supervision for a period of two years.  All three variables are decreasing over time.  Utilizing the Balance and Restorative Justice Philosophy and with continued guidance of the Juvenile Justice System Enhancement Strategy, Juveniles are less likely to commit new crimes after engaging in individualized interventions based on specific areas of need supported by the Cumberland County Juvenile Probation Department. In 2022, 20% of youth discharged from the Cumberland County Juvenile Probation Department received a subsequent arrest, 9.8% received a subsequent conviction, and 2.8% were placed in a residential facility or incarcerated.
