Medication Disposal

Medication disposal has emerged as a growing concern in recent years as studies continue to find trace amounts of pharmaceuticals in drinking water supplies across the country, and as abuse of prescription medications commonly found in homes continues to climb.

Cumberland County Recycling and Waste, in conjunction with the Cumberland-Perry Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, began addressing medication disposal in 2008 by holding drop-off events where residents could bring their unwanted medications for disposal. The historical results of the program are presented below.
