CASA Volunteer Training

Pre-service Training

The Cumberland County CASA Program requires all potential volunteers to complete 50 hours of pre-service training conducted by the CASA staff and various professionals in the community. The training, which uses materials from the National CASA Association, addresses topics such as Children and Youth Services and the legal system, cultural diversity, child development, confidentiality and ethics, the role of the CASA volunteer, and community and social service resources. Prospective volunteers are also required to attend at least 1 dependency hearing as part of their training.
