The Cumberland County CASA Program requires all potential volunteers to complete 50 hours of pre-service training conducted by the CASA staff and various professionals in the community. The training, which uses materials from the National CASA Association, addresses topics such as Children and Youth Services and the legal system, cultural diversity, child development, confidentiality and ethics, the role of the CASA volunteer, and community and social service resources. Prospective volunteers are also required to attend at least 1 dependency hearing as part of their training.
Pre-service Training for new CASA volunteers is held in Carlisle two to three times per year.
Our next round of training for volunteers will start in March 5, 2024. Contact us at email@example.com or 717-240-6159 for more information about joining, even if training has already started!
We will hold another training session in the Fall of 2024.
In compliance with National CASA Association standards, CASA volunteers are expected to complete 12 hours of in-service/ongoing training annually.
