Cumberland County Aging and Community Services regretfully announces that a Waiting List for Options Services will be established effective immediately. Options Services include in-home personal care services for individuals who are not eligible for Medicaid services. The Waiting List has become necessary due to an Aging budget that has resulted from level funding over several years and an increase in expenses and demand for services..

We implement the Waiting List reluctantly but also recognize that we have been very fortunate to have avoided the creation of a waiting list for a number of years through the use of other funds which are no longer available. Well over one-half of the Area Agencies on Aging in the Commonwealth already have waiting lists and we must now take our place among them.

The Waiting List does not impact on the availability of Medicaid Waiver Services, Family Caregiver Support Program services, Home Delivered Meals or Transportation Services. Individuals currently receiving Options Services will continue to receive those services; however, increases in service will not be available.

No new Options consumers will be brought into the program until the Options budget revenues and expenditures are balanced. We anticipate that the Waiting List will be in effect for the remainder of the current fiscal year and the entire 2011/2012 fiscal year.
