[ARCHIVED] Tax Claim Notice

COUNTY TAX CLAIMS BUREAU NOW ACCEPTS CREDIT CARDS
CONTACT: Melissa Mixell, 240-6366

CARLISLE, PA – The Cumberland County Tax Claims Bureau now accepts credit card payment for overdue municipal, library, county, and school district property taxes. Previously, payments for unpaid taxes could only be accepted in cash, certified check, or money order at the Tax Claims Bureau in the Old Courthouse in Carlisle.

This service is the result of an agreement with Official Payments, Inc., which processes tax and fee payments for the IRS, 26 state governments, and municipalities across all 50 states. American Express®, Discover®, MasterCard®, and Visa® credit cards are accepted, including ATM pin-less debit cards with a Visa® or MasterCard® logo. A small fee will be charged by Official Payments, Inc. for this service.

To use this capability, property owners must first determine how much they currently owe by calling the Tax Claims Bureau or consulting the Tax Claims Delinquent Real Estate Tax Database on the County’s website. The user then clicks on the link provided under Tax Claims and follows instructions provided. Payment via credit/debit card will take up to 72 hours to post to the Tax Claims account and will not be accepted 7 days prior to a tax sale. (enter Jurisdiction Code 4885)

This new County e-government capability allows tax payers to take advantage of card rewards, payment flexibility, convenience, and safety at a nominal fee, twenty four hours a day. For further information on this service, go to the County’s website, http://www.ccpa.net/ or contact the

Cumberland County Tax Claims Bureau at 717.240.6366 or toll free, 888.697.0371 ext. 6366.
