Cumberland County Residents: FCC Needs Your Feedback to Improve Internet Access.

Submit a challenge by Friday, January 13, 2023

The FCC is calling on residents to review internet service availability, speed, and providers to improve service. The recently released FCC national broadband map displays where internet services are available across the county, and throughout the U.S. The FCC is accepting challenges from residents and other stakeholders who dispute the accuracy of the information shown on the map. In doing this, residents can help in making the maps more accurate, helping funding to be properly distributed for broadband across the county.

Cumberland County is urging residents to review the FCC’s National Broadband Map for accuracy of the information listed for your household. If the information is missing or incorrect, you should submit a challenge through the FCC’s website by Friday, January 13, 2023. The information collected through the challenge process will be used to update the maps and guide future decisions on where broadband investments will be made in the county, and nationwide.

The maps will be used to competitively allocate $42 billion from the Federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to states for broadband improvement projects. At this time, Pennsylvania is slated to receive at least $100 million in funding. Using the information that residents submit in the national broadband map can help bring high-speed internet to every household by the end of 2030.
