Bishop Bridge, which crosses the Yellow Breeches Creek in Upper Allen Township, Cumberland County, and Monaghan Township, York County, will be closed Wednesday, October 25 for a routine inspection.
The inspection will begin at 9 a.m. and is anticipated to re-open by 3 p.m. Signage has been posted at the bridge to warn drivers of the closure. The inspection will ensure all components of the historic steel truss bridge are still in working order.
The bridge has an estimated average daily traffic volume of 150 vehicles and is weight posted to 10 tons. York County and Cumberland County jointly own the bridge. Inspections are performed every year to ensure safety for the traveling public.
