[ARCHIVED] DEP Blackfly Spraying

The Black Fly Suppression Program will be conducting multiple aerial control operations in the Susquehanna River basin beginning Monday August 17 through Wednesday August 19.

Operations will begin Monday morning at 0700 in York County on Conewago Creek, then work north and west throughout the day on Swatara Creek, Conodoguinet Creek, Sherman Creek, Tuscarora Creek and the Juniata River. The operation will include flights in York, Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, Juniata, Mifflin and Huntingdon Counties. The helicopter will be a Bell 206 Jet Ranger with the tail number N659HA and is painted blue and grey with red stripes.

A second operation will begin Tuesday morning at 0700 on the main stem of the Susquehanna River, Penns Creek, Middle Creek, the North Branch Susquehanna River, Fishing Creek and the Chemung River near the PA/NY border. This operation includes flights in York, Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, Juniata, Snyder, Union, Northumberland, Montour, Columbia, Luzerne, Wyoming and Bradford Counties and may extend into Wednesday due to the volume of work scheduled.
