Ready or not, here they come.
"Yes, we have mosquitoes here. I've been bitten like three times just during this interview," said John Bitner, chief of Cumberland County Vector Control Weights and Measures offices.
This year, mosquitoes are becoming a nuisance earlier than usual.
"This is the earliest that we've treated for adult mosquitoes. Normally, our adult program doesn't kick in until the end of June, beginning of July," Bitner said.
If Mother Nature continues her rain day yo-yo act, mosquitoes will thrive.
"As it is now, it's probably not going to be a good summer if the intermittent rain continues like it does every couple days," Bitner said.
Bitner began spraying for mosquitoes on Monday in Silver Spring Township, where residents have reported being bitten heavily during the day.
