FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Red Flag Warning in Effect
Carlisle, Pa. – A red flag warning is in effect for South Central Pennsylvania, including Cumberland County, through 9 p.m. today. A red flag warning indicates that conditions are right for wildfires.
High temperatures, low humidity and winds from the southwest at 10 – 20 mph, with potential gusts up to 30 mph, are perfect for the rapid development and spread of wildfires.
Residents are advised to avoid all outdoor burning and to contact their local fire department for information on any burning regulations. Please also be mindful when disposing cigarette butts; fully extinguish them before placing in the trash and don’t toss out of a car window or on the ground.
In addition to Cumberland, the following counties are also included in the warning: Adams, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Perry, York and Lancaster. For more information on the red flag warning, visit the National Weather Service at www.weather.gov.
