Cumberland County DA David Freed nominated for U.S. Attorney post

Former DA Freed was nominated by President Trump to become the top federal prosecutor for central and northeastern Pennsylvania. He has accepted the position and resigned as the District Attorney of Cumberland County. Freed, who is in his 12th year as Cumberland County prosecutor, previously served as the county's first assistant district attorney and as a deputy prosecutor in York County. He also served as president of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association from 2013-14. He is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and earned his law degree from Dickinson School of Law.
