Court of Common Pleas Inclement Weather Policy

The Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas will generally follow any delays or cancellations issued by the Commissioners. If you have worked from home at any time in the past, you will be expected to follow the County’s Policy regarding working from home during courthouse closure.

In the event of a building closure, all court events except 72-Hour Emergency Dependency Hearings, will be rescheduled. There will be no remote options.

Common Pleas Judges

In the event of a delayed opening, cases scheduled before a Common Pleas Judge will all be held as scheduled. Cases scheduled before the delayed opening time will be accommodated as the court schedule permits. Counsel and parties shall be present when court opens.

Hearing officers

In the event of a delayed opening, cases scheduled in front of the Dependency Hearing Officer will commence with the hour the courthouse opens. Any hearings scheduled for prior to the scheduled opening will be rescheduled. In the event of a full day building closure where the County remains open for remote services, 72-Hour Emergency Hearings before the hearing officer will be held via zoom at https://ccpameet.zoom.us/my/dependencycourt.

In the event of a delayed opening, cases scheduled with the Divorce Hearing Officer will commence with the hour the Court opens. Hearings and conferences scheduled prior to the Court’s opening will be rescheduled or accommodated if possible. 

In the event of a delayed opening, cases scheduled in front of the Support Hearing Officer will commence with the hour the Court opens. Any hearings scheduled prior to the Court’s opening will be rescheduled or accommodated if possible.

Magisterial District Judges

In the event of a delayed opening, cases scheduled in front of the Magisterial District Judges will commence with the hour the Court opens. Any hearings scheduled prior to the Court’s opening will be rescheduled or accommodated if possible.
