The addition of Perry and Franklin Counties to CPTA allows for even more cost efficiencies at CPTA, i.e. more savings in administrative costs at CPTA, due to the cost savings of combining Perry County’s transit administration with CPTA’s administration. Such administrative savings allows current spending on administration to be redirected to service for not only Perry County but for Cumberland and the other counties served by CPTA.
With a single provider serving a larger service area, customers can travel to destinations in and out of their home county without the need to transfer to another provider’s bus. For example, now that Perry County receives its service from the same provider that serves Cumberland County, a shared ride bus transporting Perry County residents to, for example, Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill may – for the first time – also pick up along the way Cumberland County residents needing to visit the same facility in Cumberland County, thereby reducing service spending/costs for all parties.
