Members of the Facilities Management crew recently demonstrated their landscaping expertise with improvements to the Veterans Gardens, next to the Historic Courthouse. The development of a long term plan decreases the overall costs and maintenance expenses for the area; improves aesthetics; and improves the safety for our workers by eliminating mowing on a sloped terrain. Reconfigured brick work around the flower beds has improved the safety in the walkways; has made the trash receptacles more accessible; and has created a more uniform look within the gardens. Lariopi grass and many flower bulbs have been relocated in exchange for low maintenance shrubbery which will provide color throughout the year.
Our crew members continue to work in the Veterans Garden area, turning their attention to potential trip hazards around the sidewalk trees. The planned changes will allow room for the trees to grow without affecting the safety of down town foot traffic.
